When will the festival take place?
This year it is taking place from Thursday 9th – Sunday 12th August 2012. Registration will begin at 6pm on Thursday evening.
Where will the festival take place and how do I get there?
It will take place near the ruins of Clonmacnois, Co Offaly. There are free buses from various locations around the country. To book your place on the FREE BUS you MUST contact the relevant bus contact (booking online DOES NOT book your place on the bus.)
What happens at the Clonmacnois Youth Festival?
The Clonmacnois Youth Festival is full of variety. The festival includes inspiring talks, music, prayer, concert, workshops, share groups, reconciliation and healing service and Mass. It is a packed program but there is time for chat, sitting, relaxing, soccer and chilling out.
What is the theme for this year’s festival?
The theme for the festival is "The bread that I shall give is my flesh for the life of the world" Jn 6:51
Who can attend this?
This is a youth event, so we are encouraging those aged between 16 - 35 years to attend. If you are over 35, this festival isn’t really for you although we do always need mature volunteers to help with the running the festival. If you're interested in coming along to help in some way, please contact the National Office on 01 6753690 to discuss the matter further - we look forward to hearing from you.
What do I need to bring with me?
You will need to bring a sleeping bag and some ear plugs with you! Just bring the usual stuff you would normally bring if you were heading away for a weekend - towels, toothbrush etc. Showers will be provided on site. Dress warmly too as the evenings can get a little chilly! As the festival takes place in a field, you will need to bring your wellies! There will be a prize for the person wearing the best pair of wellies…!
What kind of accommodation is available?
We are providing basic accommodation for all retreatants. There will be separate accommodation for guys and girls; it will also be communal and airbeds will be provided, so bring a pillow if you really, really need it! You will need ear plugs too! If you are over 18, you may bring a tent but we would ask that there is no mixed sharing in the tents (girls in one tent, guys in the other!)
How do I book?
Please book in advance, on-line by clicking here. If you are under 18, please download a booking form, fill in your details, get a parent/guardian to sign the form and send it to the address given.
What type of food will be available?
While we will do our best to provide for special dietary needs, we can’t promise that we will be able to cater for everyone. All meals will be scheduled into the timetable, so you’ll have to get up on time for your breakfast!
I have special dietary needs, can these be catered for?
We will be able to provide a vegetarian option and will be able to provide separate meals for coeliacs. Please indicate this on your online booking prior to arrival in Clonmacnois.
Is this just something for Catholics?
It’s not JUST for Catholics, but it is a Catholic youth event. All youth are welcome, whatever your faith background.
How do I get to Clonmacnois?
